Crohn’s and Colitis UK is a national charity. The lease for their headquarters was due to expire, and we were under tight time constraints to get them alternative accommodation. Unfortunately the property they found was not at all straight forward, as it involved the grant of a new underlease, coterminous with the surrender of an existing sublease.
There were also many associated issues to deal with around dilapidations, fit out and M&E. The deadline which we had to meet was a ‘drop dead’ date, as their existing landlord was not willing to extend their occupation of their existing accommodation. As there were four parties to deal with, each with their own competing interests, it was very tricky to get everything in place but we managed to complete this successfully within the timescale set.
