Our client was the main beneficiary and personal representative of her late mother-in-law’s estate, worth £175,000. We represented her in a claim made by the deceased’s daughter under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act 1975.

We worked with the client to preserve as much of her interest in the estate as possible. We also sensitively handled a highly emotive situation when the claimant alleged the client’s late husband (the deceased’s son/claimant’s brother) caused her to become estranged from her mother.

The claim settled out of court via “without prejudice” discussions at “a low nuisance level”.

This meant almost the entire estate was preserved for our client and her late husband was not subject to further character attack.
