The results are in! One of the leading UK legal directories, The Legal 500, have revealed the results of their 2020 research. Debenhams Ottaway’s family team has been ranked a top tier practice area for the first time this year. The award-winning private client team of personal tax, trusts and probate have once again maintained their tier one ranking and the firm saw the commercial litigation move up to tier two.
The highly successful family team at Debenhams Ottaway, led by Helen Young are extremely pleased with the announcement of their well-deserved top tier ranking with clients commenting “the team is friendly, accessible and very knowledgeable”. This gives recognition to the expertise and experience within the team. A special mention is made of Helen Young as a ‘leading individual’ in family law and associate solicitor Natalie Lester as a ‘rising star’. Both of whom are extremely pleased at receiving this recognition from clients and peers.
The commercial litigation team, whose numbers have increased in the last month with new arrival of senior lawyer Mairead McErlean, was very pleased with their new tier two ranking. Partner, Juliet Schalker ‘is the name to note for professional negligence work’ and intellectual property consultant lawyer, Rosie Patterson is recognised a ‘rising star’.
Amongst those gaining recognition for their growing business were corporate and commercial, employment, personal injury, charities and not-for-profit and commercial property. Equally positive was the recognition of 17 of its key partners and associates, and in particular to Susan Glenholme, Nicholas Turner, Ruth Boulton and Helen Young as ‘leading individuals’ in their field, and Andrew Yates, Rosie Patterson, Michael Kerrigan, Neil Mercer and Natalie Lester as ‘rising stars’.
Managing partner, Susan Glenholme comments,“The rankings are especially rewarding as they’re based on objective client feedback and current case studies. I am very proud of all the teams who have been ranked in the Legal 500 this year, with a huge congratulations to our outstanding family team for their result. This is well deserved and shows the commitment they have to their clients and knowledge they have within their team. It is great to see so many of our young lawyers being ranked for their hard work and to see so many of them recognised as ‘rising stars’.”
