Our client was employed by a magazine company for approximately 6 months. When he discovered an older female colleague in the same job was paid considerably more a year than him, he raised a formal grievance – claiming the company was in breach of equal pay legislation and discriminating on grounds of age.

After the hearing, the company rejected his grievance. On the same day and without any reasons, the company then dismissed our client with immediate effect.

We negotiated with the company, claiming our client had clearly been victimised for bringing an Equality Act grievance. The company instructed their solicitors, and a confidential pre-action settlement was reached.
