The City of Expertise is a St Albans not-for-profit organisation that promotes St Albans as a source of excellence for professional services.

We successfully incorporated this Community Interest Company (CIC) limited by guarantee. This meant the group could benefit from incorporated and limited liability status, offering protection from personal liability for those involved.

Our corporate lawyers also advised on its constitution and its corporate members. The corporate members were large entities, such as high street banks, accountancy practices and other law firms. This posed practical issues if the entity was, for example, XXX Bank plc rather than the local commercial/branch manager – it is not ideal for the individual to be a member, in case he left the organisation.
