Purchaser demand for pharmacy businesses appears to remain high despite recent government funding cuts in the sector. We have received a number of enquiries in the first quarter of 2018 from both purchasers and sellers of pharmacy businesses who have been seeking to instruct us in connection with a pharmacy business acquisition or sale.
Anecdotally, we understand from industry brokers that they expect the UK pharmacy business acquisition and sale market to perform well in 2018. It appears that there are a number of purchasers, from sole traders to large conglomerates, seeking to make acquisitions in the sector. Lender appetite for financing pharmacy business acquisitions also appears to be strong, with new lenders entering the marketplace to complement existing sources of finance.
Acquiring or selling a pharmacy business is a big decision. The process of acquiring and selling a pharmacy business is often complex, with various legal and regulatory requirements to be dealt with. There is no substitute for a purchaser or seller obtaining legal advice from a firm such as Debenhams Ottaway in connection with any proposed acquisition or sale of a pharmacy business; the alternative may be to rely on litigation after the event in an effort to recover your losses, which can be speculative, costly and both emotionally and physically draining.
If you are considering acquiring or selling a pharmacy business, we would be delighted to discuss your requirements with you. The members of Debenhams Ottaway’s Healthcare team work closely together to ensure that our clients obtain an exceptional level of service in connection with pharmacy business acquisitions and disposals. Our team members have expertise on a variety of matters, including the corporate, commercial, property, employment and regulatory features of pharmacy business acquisitions and sales. We also have a longstanding relationship with various industry brokers and financial institutions which operate in the sector.
If you wish to discuss your requirements with us, please do not hesitate to contact either James Brawn or Neil Mercer.
