The corporate and commercial and employment teams at Debenhams Ottaway are currently advising local entrepreneur Danny Deacon and Hollywood actor and ex-professional footballer Vinnie Jones on a new joint business venture involving Deacon Jones Fine Flooring Ltd. The joint venture has recently been publicised in the national press and will involve the Hemel Hempstead based company entering into a manufacturing arrangement with an international carpet manufacturer, supplying high quality bespoke carpets to celebrities and high net worth individuals and establishing a unique carpet fitting service.
Debenhams Ottaway lawyers James Brawn and Michael Kerrigan have been advising on various legal features of the new venture, including investment, constitutional, employment, intellectual property and commercial contract matters.
Danny Deacon said “when you start a new venture with such unique features, it’s rare to find a team of people that fully understand what you are trying to undertake from the outset. The team at Debenhams Ottaway has certainly achieved this and we feel very comfortable and confident working with them”.
Debenhams Ottaway’s corporate and commercial team continues to go from strength to strength and is now headed up by the recently recruited senior partner David Silver, who has over 30 years’ experience on corporate and commercial matters. The firm’s employment team has been able to showcase its range of capabilities on this matter by advising on some challenging features of the venture (including agency law and employment status issues).
