Laura Colville, Charlotte Capes and Amreena Zaidi, solicitors at Debenhams Ottaway, are currently taking part in the mentoring programme run by The University of Law, Bloomsbury which runs until May 2014.
Experience of working in law or even having some understanding of what being a lawyer entails is extremely important for anyone embarking on a legal career and it is for this reason that Charlotte, Amreena and Laura are giving up their free time to help students achieve their aspirations.
The assistance that mentors can give ranges from discussing strategies and helping with applications through to imparting valuable knowledge based on personal experience of the profession.
This is Laura’s third year participating in the scheme and her two previous mentees have found success. Her student in the first year went on to secure a job in a financial law practice in the City with the prospect of a Training Contract in the future, and, in the second year, her mentee secured a place on two vacation schemes with top 100 London-based firms.
