How to make a data protection complaint

What happens next

  • When we receive your complaint, we will aim to acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days and no later than 30 days.
  • Once acknowledged, we will investigate your complaint as quickly as we can and may contact you if we need more information or need to confirm your identity. We will:
      • ask you for any additional information we need, usually within 10 working days
      • keep you updated at least every 30 working days
      • give you a clear written outcome once our investigation is complete
      • look to provide this within 60 working days

If you are not satisfied with our response

We hope to resolve your complaint promptly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection matters.

The ICO will usually expect you to have raised your concern with us first before contacting them.
