I am a specialist Court of Protection practitioner with over 35 years’ experience of helping families with lasting powers of attorney, enduring powers of attorney, and Court of Protection deputyship applications. Whether you need support for a young person with SEN, an elderly parent or other loved one with dementia or another form of incapacity, I will help with kindness and efficiency.
I understand that you want the very best for your loved one, so my role is to help you navigate the legal system in order to put in place the best care and support structure to meet their individual needs. I do this by listening before advising you about the options available, then efficiently and empathetically supporting you throughout the process. This pragmatic, patient style of working means that I am one of the very few professionals in the country who has successfully secured multiple personal welfare deputyships.
My wide-ranging experience and notable relationships with care homes and social services built up over many years will support you wherever you are based across the UK.
Expertise
I offer support with:
- The Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Drafting lasting power of attorneys and registering these with the Office of Public Guardian (OPG)
- Registering an enduring power of attorney with the OPG
- Drafting Court of Protection deputyship applications for both financial and health and welfare
- Managing financial deputyship and attorneyship orders
- Compiling annual accounts for the Office of Public Guardian.
I joined Murgatroyds (now part of Debenhams Ottaway) in 1989 in a support role and was promoted to a lawyer in 2003. I became Court of Protection Manager in 2008.
