As People Manager, I work within the HR team to lead and support the firm’s people strategy and oversee the effective delivery of day‑to‑day people operations. I work closely with colleagues at all levels of the firm, providing practical guidance and trusted advice across the full employee lifecycle – from onboarding and contractual matters to performance management, wellbeing, engagement and exits.
I build strong, collaborative relationships across the business and support managers in handling people matters confidently, fairly and consistently.
Expertise
I have over 25 years’ experience in human resources, working across a range of industries and organisational settings. This breadth of experience enables me to take a pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach to people operations, underpinned by a strong understanding of employment legislation, best practice and the realities faced by managers and teams.
My role focuses on ensuring Debenhams Ottaway is regarded as an employer of choice through robust people processes, clear governance and consistent people management practices. This includes maintaining clear and compliant policies, supporting complex employee relations matters, and creating an environment where employees feel respected, supported and able to perform at their best.
I also contribute to initiatives that help Debenhams Ottaway attract, retain and support talented people, recognising that a well‑run, inclusive and supportive workplace underpins both individual and organisational success.
I am a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD), qualified to Level 7. Before joining Debenhams Ottaway in 2026, I worked as a HR Manager at an engineering company, where I was responsible for the people department in UK and also part of the European HR team working on projects and HR initiatives.
