Evelyn Hebbron

I am a senior associate and contentious probate solicitor whose practice is focused on inheritance disputes and estate disputes, including challenges to Wills. I help clients navigate sensitive estate disputes with clear, practical advice and a calm, supportive approach. 

My role is to help clients understand their options, make informed decisions and find a practical way forward. I know these matters are often deeply personal, so I take time to listen, explain things clearly and support clients with care and empathy. My aim is to be a trusted adviser who combines specialist advice with a calm, approachable and human touch. 

Expertise

My work includes advising executors and administrators, trustees, and beneficiaries based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, London and beyond. I represent both beneficiaries who feel they have been let down by a Will or estate, including surviving spouses and cohabitees and those defending claims against an estate.  Such disputes can involve complex family dynamics alongside, difficult legal questions relating, for example, to estate administration or the validity of a Will.

This work covers a wide range of disputes, including complex disputes involving high-value estates, foreign assets, farming succession issues, the challenge of lifetime gifts and disputes between executors and trustees. 

I advise on challenges to the validity of Wills, including concerns about capacity, undue influence, fraud, lack of knowledge and approval, and whether a Will has been properly prepared or signed.   

I also advise on claims for financial provision from an estate under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 (the ‘Inheritance Act’), applications for information about an estate, executor removal or replacement, executor and trustee breach of duty claims, proprietary estoppel claims and disputes involving the property of someone who has died. 

Before joining Debenhams Ottaway in 2026, I studied law at Northumbria University and qualified as a solicitor in 2012, practising in civil litigation. Since 2019 I have specialised in contentious trust and probate work. This background allows me to bring deep expertise and practical insight to every matter I advise on.
