The International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and the International Insolvency Institute (III) joined together to host and sponsor, Women at the Forefront of International Insolvency Symposium. A first of its kind, the Symposium featured thirty five women, experts in insolvency law from twenty different countries.
The Symposium took place from Monday 1 March with six panels during the week. On Monday, 8 March, IWIRC hosted a very special International Women’s Day leadership panel featuring seven women who are chair or president of the leading insolvency associations in the world.
Juliet Schalker head of dispute resolution and insolvency at Debenhams Ottaway was on the panel and discussed current trends in contentious insolvency and cross-border enforcement actions, from the perspective of the UK and Hong Kong.
The panellists provided top tips for dealing with asset preservation and asset recovery, both domestically and offshore. In particular, Juliet provided insight into the UK’s domestic market and gave insider tips on asset preservation and recovery tools which can be used here in the UK and abroad when pursuing claims on behalf of insolvency officeholders.
Juliet also touched on trends in third party litigation funding for claims in the UK, while her co-panellists discussed the funding situation in Hong Kong.
