We obtained damages for our 54-year-old client for injuries she sustained at work as an employee in the local post office working on the counter.

The injury occurred when she was using the parcel hatch in order to give and receive parcels to and from customers. The hatch was defective and her employer, despite being aware of the fault, had not done anything about it and allowed our client to continue working. Our client developed injury to the thoracic spine and restricted mobility. Due to our client’s pre-existing medical history, the case posed challenges in relation to causation although liability was conceded by her employer at a relatively early stage. Final settlement was agreed with the defendant agreeing to pay damages of £17,500 plus costs.
