Mairead McErlean has joined one of the regions strongest dispute resolution teams bringing with her 17 years of legal expertise. Acting for a variety of clients, from high net worth individuals to international organsisations, Mairead comes with a broad commercial litigation background covering insolvency, contractual disputes, property and construction litigation. Recommended by the Legal 500 in 2019, Mairead joins the team who have made other high-level appointments in recent years, including Juliet Schalker from Rosling King and Rosie Patterson from Herbert Smith.  Mairead was previously based in Milton Keynes and brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to Debenhams Ottaway and its clients.

Commenting on joining the team Mairead says I have admired Debenhams Ottaway for some time – its excellent reputation for client service and high-profile events such as “FIRE” are well known in the industry. Professional contacts always had positive things to say. I liked the people I knew, and I felt it was a place where my experience and outlook would be a good fit. I was delighted when an opportunity arose to join the litigation and dispute resolution team, so much so that I cut short a career break travelling in Asia to take it up. I’m looking forward to getting to know the firm’s clients, getting involved with the local business community and exploring all that St Albans has to offer”.

Dispute resolution partner, Luke Harrison, comments “Mairead adds to the strength of the team at senior level. Her appointment is in keeping with our strategy of offering a regional alternative to London based disputes teams. Mairead has over 17 years of complex dispute resolution and litigation experience across a broad spectrum including commercial, insolvency, property and construction disputes.”
