Stuart is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx). He is a senior associate conveyancer in the residential property team and has over 20 years’ experience in residential property work.

Stuart has built a dynamic client base which includes high-net-worth individuals and their companies, investors and developers and has established firm connections with local estate agents.

Stuart advises on all aspects of sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity, helping a diverse range of clients, from investment buyers with large property portfolios to first-time buyers.

Expertise

Stuart has many years of experience dealing with sales and purchases of freehold and leasehold property. He also deals with lease extensions, the grant of new leases and purchases under the ‘right to buy’ legislation.

Stuart specialises in high value property sales and purchases and works with many high-net-worth individuals across London and Hertfordshire. Some recent examples include:

  • acting for local developers in the sale of exclusive luxury housing developments
  • acting in the acquisition of larger residential properties, and identifying potential Stamp Duty Land Tax multiple dwelling relief
  • rectifying a leasehold title where the original lease accidentally excluded part of a flat
  • acquiring garden land and parking spaces through adverse possession

Stuart studied Law at Brunel University and graduated in 1996 and completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in London in 1997. He was admitted as a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in 2008. He worked at Howes Percival and Pictons. He joined Debenhams Ottaway in 2013and was made associate in 2021.
